Cowboys and cowgirls from around the nation gathered in Choctaw over the weekend as the Choctaw Round Up Club hosted the 51st annual Choctaw Open Rodeo and inaugural Choctaw Rodeo Parade.
Choctaw Round Up Club in conjunction with Rusty Morland’s Rocking R Rodeo Co., hosted an IPRA Rodeo for competitors from across the USA.
With festivities running August 12-13, rodeo fans enjoyed bareback and saddle bronc riding, calf roping, barrel racing, bull riding, mutton bustin’, a calf scramble and more.
This year a Saturday morning parade was added to the festivities moving from Choctaw Middle School down Harper Road to Choctaw Creek Park .
Annie Specht was crowned Choctaw Round Up Club Queen, Round Up Club Princess was Ashlynn Green with the Runner-Up being Hattie Couch, and Hailey Perry was named Junior Princess 2016.
Glen Turtleman Lawson the “funny man” was in attendance as the featured entertainment.
