Mustang falls to Norman North in regional opener

EDMOND – It was a complete effort. The first time Mustang’s girls have turned in that kind of performance in the last two weeks.

However, it just wasn’t enough as the Broncos fell to Norman North 60-48 in the first round elimination game of the Edmond Santa Fe regional on Thursday.

Logan Haller (So.) heaved a pass to Tytianna Mustin (Fr.) on Friday against No. 10 Norman North. The freshman turned around at half-court near the sideline and drilled a desperation three as the fourth quarter buzzer sounded, falling to the ground after contact.

However, with no whistle from the officials, Mustang (3-8) walked away with a 61-60 loss after recovering from a 16-point, fourth quarter deficit.

After playing five games in six days, Christmas break couldn’t have come at better time for Mustang.

That was apparent in the Broncos’ 75-58 win over Edmond North on Tuesday, earning their second win of the season. And although 75 points is the team’s season high, coach Kevin Korstjens was even more pleased with a much lower number. 13 turnovers.
