Mustang’s offseason was a little different this summer.
Last year, then first-year coach, Caitlyn Bernhardt, had a problem. She had over 80 kids enrolled in volleyball and only two courts for practice. At the time, she had a varsity squad to prepare, leaving little time to help round up players on the junior varsity and freshman teams and making it tough to find each kid a spot to play.
Bernhardt’s new philosophy going into her second year was simple: have tryouts, find out who is really committed to the program and becoming a better player and create a selfless atmosphere where the team ultimately comes first.
And right now, everything is working according to plan.
