Grady County is in need of an official seal, and officials are asking area students for help.
Emergency Management Director Dale Thompson announced Monday the county is launching a design competition to create an official seal of Grady County. The competition is open to all juniors and seniors from  in county high schools, as well as students at Canadian Valley Technology Center and University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma.

Once the new seal is selected and approved, it will be used on official documents, banners, and business materials. The creator of the winning design will receive an award and recognition from County officials as well as having their name displayed on the bottom portion of the design for permanent record.

The future County Seal of Grady Count, Oklahoma will be a round seal with the wording “Seal of Grady County” across the top and “Oklahoma” along the bottom. The inside of the seal shall be designed to show the history and/or current functions of Grady County, such as agriculture, oilfield, railroad, governments, rivers or water ways and highways.

Students are encouraged to submit designs that are simple and versatile. The future county seal must be scalable to any size without losing image quality or visual impact. Simple color schemes are also encouraged since additional colors will add significantly to the county’s printing costs.

Entries must be completed and turned into the school teacher and/or advisor by Oct. 31, 2012. The designs will be narrowed to the top 20 and forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners in December. The winning design will be determined after Jan. 1, 2013. The winning design will then be announce at County Government Week held in spring of 2013.
