A 40-year-old Ninnekah man drowned in Lake Chickasha Sunday night, according to the Chickasha Police Department.

Nathan Farmer was pulled from the water around 6 p.m. and was unresponsive on the east shoreline. He was pronounced dead at the scene about 6:30 p.m., after unsuccessful attempts to revive him.

Witnesses stated that Farmer had been enjoying himself with friends and family in the water when he went missing. Farmer was believed to have been submerged about 30 minutes before being found. Alcohol may have contributed to this incident.  

“This incident is under investigation, but appears to be an unfortunate accidental incident,” interim police chief Moore Our thoughts and prayers go out to Nathan’s loved ones during this difficult time,” said Interim Police Chief Elip Moore said.
