Four Tuttle high school wrestlers represented team Oklahoma this past weekend. Blake Dauphin, Gunner Laffoon, Dakota Head and Nathan Jackson all competed in the USA Junior National wrestling duals held at the Freede Center on the campus of Oklahoma City University.

Each wrestler was selected and spent a full week both training and competition. Zach Beard was also selected but was unable to compete due to a recent knee injury.

For the first time in many years, both the Greco Roman team and the Freestyle team earned All-American status. With over 30 states represented this was a great accomplishment.

The Oklahoma Greco Roman team beat North Dakota, New York and Pennsylvania on its way to a sixth place finish.
The Oklahoma Red Freestyle team, which featured Laffon and coach Matt Surber, beat Georgia, Arizona, New Jersey, and Wisconsin in placing fifth.

“Dakota, Gunner, Blake and Nate all competed well and won many matches,” Surber said. “This was a great tournament for some of our guys to compete against many of our countries best wrestlers.”

Illinois won both the Greco and Freestyle tournament.
