Vandals claiming to represent the Earth Liberation Front hit Choctaw’s Town Square Development last night.

This morning crews discovered vandalism on six pieces of heavy equipment and one large fuel tank. Damage included spray paint, broken dashes and controls and sand in the fuel tanks of equipment. Crews are currently working to clean and repair the equipment to continue work on the development.

“We want people to know we are working for Choctaw, not just one company. In addition to the Walmart Supercenter the Choctaw Town Square will include a water park, restaurants, a potential movie theatre and other businesses,” said developer Kurt Blackaby. “This act of vandalism will not slow us down. We will continue moving dirt today.”

The self-proclaimed eco-warriors known as Elves attempt to use economic sabotage and guerrilla warfare to stop the exploitation and destruction of the environment.

ELF originated in the United Kingdom in the 1990’s and was classified as the top domestic terror threat in the United States by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2001.

Graffiti on the equipment also claims connection with the Animal Liberation Front. ALF is known to use illegal action in pursuit of animal liberation, and has close ties to the ELF movement.
