Despite unusually cool weather Choctaw celebrated the first day of June with another successful chamber auction.

The Choctaw Chamber of Commerce continued the tradition of putting on the biggest and best chamber auction in the state last Friday.

The 35th Choctaw Chamber of Commerce Auction was Friday, June 1 under the Choctaw Creek Park Pavilion.

Nearly 700 tickets were sold to this year’s fundraiser auction. The event was by reservation only, and tickets must have been purchased in advance. This year’s auction featured more than 600 unique auction items.

As always bidding was aggressive and the auction was profitable. The Choctaw Chamber of Commerce Auction is the organization’s largest fundraiser and brings in more money than any other chamber auction in Oklahoma.

The success of the annual auction was a result of five months of work from the auction committee consisting of 15-20 people and the dedication of local businesses and community members.

Funds raised at the auction are used to run various chamber programs throughout the year.

In addition to the ever popular silent and live auction, the event featured A Taste of Choctaw, with nine area restaurants providing food samples and a wide drink selection to guests.

Choctaw’s Chamber of Commerce works to promote existing business members and bring new businesses to the Choctaw area.
