Dispatch put out a call stating a subject believed he was the Anti-Christ and he was going to burn his house down with his family in it. Our nearest person in route was the Sheriff Jim Weir, a Minco police officer contacted the Sheriff's Office dispatch and offered to mutual aid, as he was familiar with the area and person. The Minco officer made contact with the subject who attacked him with a knife. The Officer was stabbed twice, once in the shoulder and once in the back of the head. Russell Mason, the subject was then shot in the leg by the Minco Officer. Sheriff Jim Weir arrived on the scene, wrestled with the subject, handcuffed him and waited on help to arrive. Sheriff Jim Weir is currently at the hospital having his leg looked at, he was injured in the scuffle with the subject. The Minco Police Officers name is not being released upon the request of his chief. We will have more information to follow. All Deputies on duty responded to help the Sheriff and the Officer when the call was put out.
