The Minco community has come together to help two of its residents who lost their home to a fire last week.

Tammy Fouch said her aunt and uncle, Betty and Jerry Cradduck, were pulling up to their home on Pontotoc Street after attending a funeral on Tuesday, Nov. 12 when they saw their house on fire.

Fouch said she heard that wiring was the cause of the blaze.

"They were able to salvage some pictures and some other things, but it was mostly a total loss," Fouch said.

Now, Fouch is doing what she can to raise money to help the Cradducks by selling T-shirts with the phrase ‘Gooder than Good.’

"The reason I’ve chosen that phrase is because it is my uncle Jerry’s motto and it was the first thing he said to me when he was comforting me because his house burned down," she said. "He was even thanking the firefighters who responded to the fire."

Using her side business of making T-shirts, Fouch began selling the shirts at $10. She ordered 500 of the shirts to sell to anyone interested.

"I just wanted to do something for them," she said.

Word of the shirts spread and in no time at all, she had 100 orders.

"I was so humbled by the support from the community," she said.

Jerry pastors Trinity Crossing Church in Tuttle and he and Betty have lived in Minco for over 20 years. They started their church in Minco before they had the opportunity to move into their current building in Tuttle.

The church held a chili cookoff to raise more funds for the Cradducks at their Sunday service.

Anyone who is interested in purchasing a shirt to donate to the cause can contact Tammy Fouch on Facebook or call her at (405) 863-3406.

Jerry and Betty are my pastors, and I couldn't ask for better ones! My heart goes out to them and I am blown away by the support for them (though I should not be surprised). I also want to say that our church has not had the chili cookoff yet. We will be having it Sunday afternoon from 12:30 to 3:00 along with a bake sale and silent auction. Come out and join us!
