Donna Louise (Dickens) Redington, age 76, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at her home in Watonga, OK. She was born October 15, 1933 to Elmer (Buck) and Frances A. (Davis) Dickens in the home of her grandparents A.C. and Betty Dickens. The doctor was late so Grandmother Dickens and Nellie Roach delivered her. She was raised on that farm and in Watonga and graduated from Greenfield High School. She attended OK A & M College, now OSU. She married Ernest Redington on April 27, 1961. They retired to work with MAPS RV Ministry which is the home missions division of the Assembly of God church. They traveled and worked on churches, childrens homes, campgrounds and Teen Challenges during the 5-1/2 years they did this work. This was the work she loved and the people she enjoyed meeting. They then settled on property near Canton Lake but moved to Watonga to be close to her mother in her last days. Survivors include her husband, Ernest, daughter Marilyn Kay, son George Alex, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also by her brother Lyle Dickens, sister Nancy Irion, both from LaSalle, CO, many nieces, nephews and she loved to say “cousins by the dozens” and she loved them all. Services will be held at 10:00am Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church in Watonga with interment following at 3:00pm at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, OKC under the direction of McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to RV MAPS in care of the funeral home.
