A new church has broken ground in Mustang.
Dirt is being moved at the site of the new LifeChurch.tv campus, located between Lowe’s and Applebee’s near State Highway 152 and Sara Road.
Lori Bailey, Central Team Leader of Communications for LifeChurch.tv, said the church decided to come to Mustang based on the growth in the city.
"We are starting a new location in Mustang in response to the incredible growth we’ve seen in the Oklahoma City metro area," Bailey said. "Many people in our church live in Mustang and are eager to serve the community right in their home town."
LifeChurch.tv was founded in 1996. There are 19 locations, or campuses, which are part of the Evangelical Covenant Church, founded in 1885 in Chicago by Swedish immigrants.
According to the church’s website, LifeChurch.tv "values the Bible as the Word of God, the gift of God’s grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through faith in Jesus Christ, the importance of extending God’s love and compassion to a hurting world, and the strength that comes from unity and diversity."
They will be adding a 20th location in Wichita in August. There are locations in five states with several in Oklahoma, including Broken Arrow, Edmond, Jenks, Midwest City, Oklahoma City, Owasso, Tulsa, Stillwater and Yukon.
Bailey said the new church in Mustang is projected to open sometime in the Spring of 2015.
"The new church will be 36,601 square feet," she said. "Every time we open a new campus, we are humbled by what God does in and through the lives of the people there."
