A restaurant is making plans to open a new location in Mustang.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers will build its ninth OKC-metro location in the city and will open late spring or early summer.

Mustang Senior City Planner Melissa Helsel said the City received the plans for the new restaurant.

"It will be located at 540 East State Highway 152 and will be 3,330 square feet," Helsel said.

Sarah Selmon, Director of Public Relations for Freddy’s said construction on the new restaurant will begin in the coming weeks.

"Construction will start in about a month, so it may be in March," Selmon said. "We don’t have a opening date yet, but it will either be late spring or early summer. That location will employee about 60 people."

Selmon said there are currently eight Freddy’s in the Oklahoma City metro, which include locations in Yukon and Norman.

Freddy’s is known for their frozen custard, but also offer their signature steakburgers along with sandwiches and hog dogs. Freddy’s is named after WWII veteran Freddy Simon who opened the first restaurant in Wichita, Kan.

Currently, there are a total of 109 locations in 17 states.
